Efficacy Studies

Preclinical efficacy studies form the fundamental basis of research pharmacology and drug development. In in vivo efficacy studies the pharmacological effects of test compounds are investigated in laboratory animal models that have been developed to mimic the human disease as closely as possible. Such studies are of key importance in order to predict the success of treatment in humans with the disease.

Efficacy studies in mice and rats

We are a dedicated and highly qualified partner for preclinical efficacy studies. Our competent team is known for responsiveness and scientific sound study designs. We are experienced in conducting studies with rodent models covering various disease areas including oncology and diabetology. Moreover, we have experience with various diseases within the orphan drug indications applying transgenic mice as well as diseases where more customized models have been developed.

we are conducting efficacy studies in large animal models including rabbits and pigs.

Efficacy studies in rabbits and pigs

Additionally, we are conducting efficacy studies in large animal models including rabbits and pigs. With respect to efficacy studies in pigs we both conduct studies in the well characterized Göttingen minipigs as well as domestic pigs. Both physiologically and genetically, the pig in many ways reveals high similarity to humans, which has allowed us to successfully conduct porcine in vivo studies in many different areas such as wound healing, haemostasis, topical applications and proof of concept studies that involves implants and surgical intervention. But also other models have been developed.

Innovative new therapies often require flexible and client tailored efficacy studies in order to demonstrate early proof of concept. Therefore, as a natural part of our services, we also offer experimental set up and establishment of disease models according to client requirements. When tailoring efficacy studies to the specific requirements of the sponsor, we focus on unifying the need for pharmacological data collection while at the same time keeping the highest degree of animal welfare.
